Britney Spears and internet searches
Max' guest posts tripled visitors to the blog for two days, but the traffic has died down now.Most of those came in with the classic search 'Britney Spear's crotch shot'. A few came in on the keyword 'vagina' and a good proportion were looking for the 'uncensored' shots.
I'm still a little gutted that, after all my sensible posts, people are lured by the sort of trash Max wrote :-(
His first post has had two direct hits from people looking for 'threesomes' and one request for 'incest'.
edit Add another 50 hits today, more than half of those searching for Britney Spears and mostly coming in on this new post. Another three searching directly for porn. Searches as usual are split between google, blogsearch.google and search.blogger. The 'uncensored' link on the other post is still the fave, on this one it's 'more on Brit'. Oddly, both lead to the same site. Maybe it's more of a 'food rules' decision (from the url) than the link description.
Nearly everyone clicked out on one or other of the links, mostly on the one labelled 'uncensored'.
The numbers were not large, compared to some other blogs - about 80 hits from Google directly to the link list over 48 hours.
Still disturbing. What this tells me is that 80 people want to look at the uncensored photos of the Britney's privates. Note that word - privates. It's a descriptive euphemism, reminding us that the photographer who took and displayed those photos broke common ethics.
What do ethics mean in today's society?
That's a whole 'nother discussion. I'll keep it in mind.
There's an ethical code which the people who wanted to look - safe in the privacy of the bubble around their computer - have broken also.
There's a worrying trend for these viewers and commenters to respond with insults, or remarks that the view was 'gross', 'sickening' or 'disgusting'.
Does no-one see the female body as normal, natural and beautiful?
Out of interest, I've had a look at some other discussions of internet searches in general:
Discounting "Google," "Yahoo," "Internet," and "download" as mere means to an end and "free" as too diffuse, we find that the principal destinations on the Web are music, travel, sex, games, and eBay. Proof of porn's preeminence? My arse. If we consider "eBay" a stand-in for "treasured possessions" and chalk up the absence of "food" to the inability, so far, to digitize taste and smell, I'd say we've got an unremarkable list of life's little pleasures, whether online or off.
